Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

Positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) is a system of school-wide, group, and individualized strategies for acquiring and promoting positive behavior and social skills. PBIS practices, interventions, and strategies help educate all students in our school. Staff are provided supports to teach and encourage positive, healthy behaviors. This leads to an increase in the safety of the learning environment where students are able to achieve increased learning.

Cougar Paws

At Black Hawk we recognize our respectful, responsible, and safe students by awarding them with Cougar Paws. Every day, during our morning announcement videos we draw for our Cougar Paw winners. Students who show exemplary behavior are recognized school wide, but also receive recognition in their classrooms. Winners earn prizes and privileges in the classroom, and weekly “Paw-some Cougars” enjoy popcorn with the principal!

100% Attendance

One of our goals this year is to increase student attendance. Each day, classes with 100% Attendance celebrate with their teacher and we recognized the class with the highest attendance all week. Please join us in our goal and ensure that every child attends school every day.
